Pickled Peaches - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pt. vinegar
    4 c. sugar
    7 lb. firm, ripe peaches, peeled
    2 Tbsp. whole cloves
    1 Tbsp. mixed spices
Preparation
    Put vinegar and sugar on stove and let them come to a boil. Then scald the peaches in this solution.
    The peaches should stay in long enough to get hot through and through and until they can be pricked with a fork, but should not be allowed to shrivel.
    Place in sterilized fruit jars and seal.
