Marinara Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    1/2 c. white or red wine
    2 large cans crushed tomatoes with liquid
    1/2 to 3/4 c. grated Romano cheese
    salt and coarse pepper to taste
    6 to 8 leaves fresh basil
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Saute onion and garlic in olive oil. Add salt, pepper and wine. Cook about 5 minutes over medium heat. Add tomatoes and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil. Then add cheese; stir in. Cook about 1 hour (simmer). Add fresh basil last 10 minutes. Serve over your favorite pasta.
