Maple Walnut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. dark corn syrup
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
    1 1/2 c. walnut pieces
Preparation
    Combine sugars, water and syrup in a large, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Stir to dissolve. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Continue cooking, without stirring, until candy thermometer registers 300\u00b0 (a teaspoonful of syrup will separate into hard brittle threads when dropped in cold water).
