Fruit Coffee Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. walnuts
Preparation

Mix the flour, salt, sugar and shortening until crumbly.
Save half the mixture for topping.
To remaining batter, add baking powder, soda and spices.
Mix thoroughly and add milk and eggs. Pour into two 8-inch pans.
Sprinkle with remaining crumbs and add fruit of choice.
May use preserves.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
