Mrs. Totts Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce
    1 bunch scallions, sliced thin
    2 to 3 stalks celery, sliced thin
    1 large green bell pepper, diced 3/8 cubes
    1 small can water chestnuts, drained
    1 (10 oz.) frozen peas, thawed
    2 c. mayonnaise
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    3 tsp. sugar
    lemon juice
    salt and pepper
    bacon bits
Preparation
    Place head lettuce on bottom of large bowl.
    Place scallions as next layer, stalks celery as next layer.
    Mix mayonnaise with garlic powder, sugar, lemon juice, salt and
    pepper.
    Spread on top of layers and sprinkle with bacon bits on top.
