Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening or butter
    2 c. brown sugar
    1 beaten egg
    4 c. flour (plain)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. applesauce
    1 tsp. soda
    2 c. raisins
    1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Cream together\tshortening
    or\tbutter, brown sugar and beaten egg.
    Mix
    cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt with flour by hand; add
    to
    creamed
    mixture.\tAdd applesauce with soda dissolved in it.
    Also
    mix
    well
    by
    hand.
    Add
    raisins and nuts.
    Bake in 3
    or
    4
    (9-inch) cake pans, greased well and lightly floured. Bake
    in
    350\u00b0
    oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until cake starts to pull from sides of pan.
