Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 medium cucumbers
    5 medium onions
    1/4 c. pickling or canning salt
    1 1/2 c. 5% acid vinegar
    1/2 c. water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Heat the last 6 ingredients until hot.
    Slice cucumbers and onions.
    Sprinkle on salt and let stand 2 to 3 hours.
    Drain.
    Add cucumbers to liquid until hot.
    Pack in hot jars; seal and water bath for 5 minutes.
