Penuche Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs, well beaten
    3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening and brown sugar.
    Add beaten eggs; beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and add to mixture. Add vanilla, then pecans.
    Bake 20 minutes at 375\u00b0.
    Since ovens vary, check in 15 minutes.
    When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
    Walnuts may be used.
    Batter will be thick.
