Panocha (Candy) - cooking recipe

2 1/2 c. light brown sugar
pinch of salt
1 Tbsp. corn syrup
1 Tbsp. butter
3/4 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Boil first five ingredients to a soft ball stage (237\u00b0), stirring constantly.
Remove from fire.
Add vanilla and nuts. Set pan in cold water and start beating at once.
When mixture turns creamy and light, turn into buttered pan.
Cut in squares. If it hardens too soon, knead it soft again and put in pan.
