Southern Fried Okra - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 pound okra
    1 egg 2 tablespoons milk
    1/2 cup self-rising flour
    1/4 cup cornmeal
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    pepper to taste
    cooking oil
Preparation
    Wash okra.
    Cut in 1 inch slices.
    Combine egg and milk, beating well.
    Combine flour and cornmeal, sprinkle okra with salt and pepper.
    Dip okra in egg mixture and dredge in flour mixture. Heat oil to 375 degrees.
    Place dredged okra in wire basket (just enough to cover bottom of basket).\tPlace basket in deep fat for 1-3 minutes.
    Drain and serve.
