Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 slices bacon, diced
    1 1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 c. chopped celery
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 c. diced carrots
    7 1/2 c. water
    1 bay leaf
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. rosemary, crushed
    1 lb. green split peas
Preparation
    In large saucepan, brown bacon; drain. Stir in onions, celery and garlic and cook until vegetables are tender. Add carrots, water, bay leaf, salt, pepper and rosemary and heat to boil. Stir in green peas and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes. Season with salt and pepper if needed. Makes 8 servings.
