Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. fat
    2 lb. stewing beef, cut in squares
    1 large onion
    4 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. Heinz 57 sauce
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. paprika
    dash of allspice
Preparation
    Combine fat, beef and onion; cook gently for 20 minutes.
    Add remaining ingredients and cook gently for 2 hours.
    I use my slow cooker or can be cooked on stove or in oven.
    Add vegetables (carrots, potatoes, celery, peas or whatever you like).
    Simmer for 30 minutes or until veggies are tender.
    Thicken gravy with 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup flour.
    Stir in gravy and cook slowly.
