Beef Stroganoff - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean beef (round or sirloin steak)
    1 large onion, sliced or chopped
    1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. or small can tomato juice
    1/4 c. sherry
    1/2 c. water
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 c. dairy sour cream
Preparation
    Trim fat from meat; slice in thin narrow slices.
    Dredge in flour.
    In heavy skillet, brown meat in butter.
    Remove meat to dish and brown onions and mushrooms slightly.
    Add meat to pan and all liquids and seasonings except sour cream.
    Simmer on low for about 2 hours, adding more water as needed and stirring frequently.
    At serving time, thicken juices in pan with a bit of flour and water; turn up burner and blend in sour cream quickly but do not boil.
    Serve over cooked broad noodles or rice.
