Miso Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 dried shrimp
    5-inch piece Dashi Konbu (soup kelp)
    3 Araimo (dasheen), peeled and cut into chunks
    green onions
    3 dried mushrooms, soaked and sliced
    6 c. water
    optional additions include: sliced carrots, turnips, cubed tofu, eggs, somen, kamaboko
Preparation
    Boil the shrimp, dried mushrooms and konbu in water for about 1/2 hour.
    Add vegetables and simmer until tender.
    Add about 2 heaping tablespoons miso paste.
    Garnish with tofu and green onions or other optional ingredients.
