Shredded Yams - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. raw sweet potatoes
    1 gal. water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. white Karo syrup
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. pineapple juice
    4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Preparation
    Shred yams into one gallon water with salt added.
    Combine sugar, syrup and 1/4 cup water in heavy saucepan.
    Cook until it forms like syrup.
    Drain potatoes.
    Place in heat resistant 12 x 6 x 13-inch glass baking dish.
    Pour pineapple juice over potatoes, then the cooked syrup.
    Dot with butter.
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for about 35 minutes or until potatoes are translucent.
