Ingredients

1 can water-packed cherries and juice
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1/4 tsp. red food coloring
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
2/3 c. milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

In one bowl, place the first 4 ingredients and set aside.
In another bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients.
Pour flour mixture into an 8 x 12-inch baking dish.
Spoon cherry mixture carefully over flour mixture (do not stir).
Bake 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Cherries go to the bottom and crust will be golden brown when done.
Never double this recipe.
