Fassafern Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (No. 2) cans tomatoes (undrained)
    1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    3 slices stale bread, broken fine
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients well.
    Pour into a shallow baking dish. Cover entire top with teaspoon of butter (about 1/4 pound).
    Cook in slow oven (275\u00b0) for 4 to 5 hours.
    Serves 4.
