Chess Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. butter
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs
Preparation
    Scald milk in top of double boiler. Add butter (use 1 cup milk).
    Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add 1/2 cup cold milk, stirring until smooth.
    Stir sugar mixture slowly into scalded milk.
    Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until thick. Beat eggs slightly.
    Stir into hot mixture. Cook for 3 minutes longer. Stir constantly.
    Cool slightly and add vanilla.
    Pour filling into a 9-inch pie shell. Bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
