Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large cabbage
    12 large ripe tomatoes
    12 large red bell peppers
    1 qt. vinegar
    12 large green tomatoes
    12 green bell peppers
    6 onions
    3 Tbsp. salt
    2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Cut up all ingredients very fine.
    Place in container to cook. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons salt and sugar.
    Then add 1 teaspoon pickling spice.
    Cook for 1/2 hour.
    Put mixture on high heat. The secret is not to cook the ingredients too much.
    Put in jars and seal while hot.
