Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter (let stand overnight at room temperature)
    1 c. cornstarch
    1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
    3 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 300\u00b0.
    Cream butter until light and fluffy. Blend in sugar and beat well.
    Add cornstarch and blend.
    Then add flour a little at a time until blended.
    Pat dough into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Prick well with a fork.
    Can be sprinkled with colored sugar, if desired.
    Bake for 1 hour or until set.
    Turn off oven.
    Cut into squares with sharp knife.
    Return to oven for 15 minutes to dry edges.
    Remove from pan when cool.
    Dough may be rolled into 1-inch balls and flattened.
    Bake until done.
