Whole Pickles Or Christmas Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers (whole)
    8 Tbsp. mixed spices
    4 c. vinegar
    4 Tbsp. salt
    4 Tbsp. alum
Preparation
    Put cucumbers and other ingredients in a gallon jar.
    Add enough water to completely cover cucumbers and seal jar.
    After three months, slice cucumbers into thin slices and drain.
    Layer with 5 to 6 cups of sugar and let stand overnight.
    Keep in refrigerator.
