Walnut Crisps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. sugar
    3/4 tsp. salt (optional)
    1/2 c. soft shortening (Crisco)
    1 egg, separated
    3 Tbsp. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. walnuts, finely chopped
Preparation
    Sift flour, sugar and salt into large bowl.
    Mix in thoroughly with fork:
    shortening, egg yolk, milk and vanilla.
    Form into balls, size of small walnuts.
    Place on cookie sheet.
    Press 1/16 inch thick with bottom of greased glass dipped in sugar.
    Brush with slightly beaten egg white.
    Sprinkle with chopped walnuts. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until slightly brown at 375\u00b0.
    Makes about 5 dozen.
