Fluffy Gold Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted Softasilk
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    3 tsp. double-action baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/3 c. high grade shortening
    1 c. milk, divided
    1/2 tsp. lemon extract
    1/3 c. unbeaten egg yolks (4 medium)
Preparation
    Sift together into bowl, Softasilk, sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Add shortening, 2/3 cup milk, extract and vanilla.
    Beat vigorously with spoon for 2 minutes by clock (about 150 strokes per minute).
    Or mix with electric mixer on medium speed (middle of dial) for 2 minutes.
    Add the rest of milk and egg yolks.
    Beat 2 more minutes.
    Pour batter into prepared pans.
    Pan size:
    2 round layers, 8 x 1 1/2-inch.
    Temperature:
    350\u00b0 (moderate oven). Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
    Cool.
    Frost with White Mountain Icing.
