First Prize Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

1 stick butter
4 (1 oz.) sq. bitter chocolate
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
2 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease and flour two 8-inch pans.
Melt butter and chocolate together over low heat.
Cool.
Blend eggs until foamy, about 2 minutes.
Add buttermilk and vanilla.
Sift together the flour, soda and sugar.
Blend dry ingredients into buttermilk mixture, then stir in melted butter and chocolate. Pour batter into pans.
Bake about 20 minutes.
Frost with dark chocolate frosting.
