Watermelon Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large watermelon
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1 (33 oz.) bottle ginger ale, chilled
Preparation
    Scoop pulp from melon and remove seeds.
    Mash pulp of watermelon.
    Strain.
    Measure 1 gallon of juice and set aside. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
    Add to 1 gallon watermelon juice and chill.
    Just before serving, add ginger ale.
    Stir gently and serve over crushed ice.
