Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. light molasses
1/2 c. water
1 egg
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, baking powder and baking soda.
Add shortening, molasses, egg and water.
Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed until combined.
Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Pour into a greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Cool on wire rack in the pan 10 minutes.
Remove from pan and serve warm.
Serves 9.
