Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. vanilla
4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

In bowl, combine sugar and butter; beat until creamy.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Stir together dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture until completely blended.
Chill for 30 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface roll dough to a 1/4 inch thickness.
Cutters should be dipped in flour.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes a very moist and chewy cookie.
