Curried Broccoli Stems - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. broccoli stems from about 1 1/2 lb. fresh broccoli
    1 c. chicken stock or broth
    1 tsp. minced garlic
    1 Tbsp. minced fresh ginger
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 tsp. ground dried turmeric
    1/2 tsp. cumin
    1/2 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Remove stems from broccoli and cut crosswise into 1/4-inch slices.
    (Store broccoli florets in refrigerator for another use.) Saute fresh ginger and garlic in oil until garlic begins to color. Add spices and cook for another minute.
    Add broccoli stems and chicken stock.
    Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes or until stems are tender.
    Makes 4 servings.
