Chocolate Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. soda
3 Tbsp. cocoa
1 (No. 303) can applesauce
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1 c. chocolate chips

Preparation

Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs together on low speed. Sift in another bowl the flour, cinnamon, salt, soda and cocoa. Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce to creamed mixture.
Pour in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips mixed together with 2 tablespoons sugar over top of batter.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
