Cherry Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 egg, beaten
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2/3 c. milk
    1/3 c. syrup from cherries
    1/2 c. drained maraschino cherries
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. nuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Beat in egg; mix and sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with the syrup from the chopped cherries and nuts. Place dough into 9 x 5-inch bread pan.
    Let stand 2 minutes before baking in 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour.
