Kahlua Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

3 egg whites
3 egg yolks
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. solid shortening
1 c. light brown sugar
2 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. strong black coffee
3/4 c. Kahlua
Preparation

Set oven to 350\u00b0. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the granulated sugar while beating; set aside. Cream shortening and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour, cocoa and soda together. Add them to the creamed mixture alternately with the coffee and Kahlua. Beat well after each addition. Fold egg whites into the batter. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until tests done. Cool for 10 minutes and remove to wire racks. Cool completely and frost.
