Fig Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. figs, not skinned
    2 tsp. ginger
    4 lb. sugar
Preparation
    Sprinkle ginger over figs.
    Cover with boiling water and let stand for 15 minutes.
    Mix sugar with enough water to boil. Remove figs from the water and add syrup.
    Cook until syrup is thick.
