Party Squash Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. yellow squash, sliced
    1/2 c. mayonnaise
    1 large egg, slightly beaten
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1/2 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1/4 c. finely chopped onion
    1/4 c. finely chopped green pepper
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/3 c. fine dry bread crumbs
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, cut into pieces
Preparation
    Cook squash in 1/2 cup boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes; drain.
    Place squash in large bowl and mash.
    Stir in mayonnaise and next 8 ingredients.
    Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
    Sprinkle with bread crumbs and dot with butter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Yields 6 servings.
