Apple Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg, separated
    1/3 c. milk
    1/2 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. cooking oil
    2 tart apples
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Beat egg yolk until light.
    Combine with milk.
    Mix in another bowl the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.
    Sift twice.
    Stir into egg and milk mixture.
    Beat until smooth.
    Stir in cooking oil.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg white.
    Cover and let stand 30 minutes.
    Peel, quarter and slice thin the apples.
    Stir into mixture.
    Drop from spoon into hot fat.
    Drain on soft paper. Serve hot with powdered sugar sprinkled on top.
