Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 qt. medium sliced cucumbers
2 to 4 large onions
1/4 c. salt
3 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. powdered turmeric
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. whole mustard seed
1/2 tsp. celery seed
3 1/2 c. white vinegar
Preparation

Cut unpeeled cucumbers and slice onions.
Combine onions, salt and cucumbers.
Soak in water for 3 hours.
Rinse with cold water. Drain off.
Combine last ingredients. Heat to boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar.
Add pickles and onions.
Heat to boiling. Place in sterile cans and seal at once. Yields 5 pints.
