Birthday Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. cake flour
    3/4 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 egg whites
    1/4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add milk with vanilla alternately with sifted dry ingredients.
    Beat egg whites and add the 1/4 cup of sugar.
    Fold into the batter last.
    Pour into 2 greased pans. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
