Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. raisins
    2 c. water
    1 tsp. soda
    2 rounded Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    pinch of salt
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Boil raisins and water down to 1 cup of juice.
    Pour juice in a bowl; add soda.
    Cool slightly and add shortening and sugar to the warm liquid.
    Then add flour, baking powder and raisins. (Nuts can be added.)
    Bake in well-greased loaf pan at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
    Can be served plain or with a brown sauce.
