Cherokee Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
3/4 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
1/2 bay leaf
1/8 tsp. oregano
1/8 tsp. thyme
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
2 c. tomatoes
1 can mushroom soup
1 c. Minute rice
6 stuffed olives, sliced
2 to 3 slices cheese, cut in strips
Preparation

Brown the meat and add onions.
Cook over medium heat until the onion is tender.
Stir in the seasonings, tomatoes, soup, rice and half of the olives.
Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Spoon into a baking dish and top with cheese strips.
Broil until the cheese is melted and decorate the casserole with the remaining olive slices.
Black olives may be substituted for the green olives.
Serves 4 to 6.
