California Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. chopped onion
    4 c. freshly cooked rice (1 c. dry rice)
    2 c. sour cream
    1 c. cottage cheese
    1 large bay leaf
    chopped parsley
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    3 cans (4 oz.) green chilies, chopped and drained
    2 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Lightly grease 12x8x2 (2 qt.) pan.
    In hot butter in large skillet, saute onions until golden, about 5 minutes.
    Remove from heat, stir in hot rice, sour cream, cottage cheese, bay leaf, salt and pepper.
    Layer 1/2 rice mixture, then 1/2 chilies.
    Sprinkle with cheese and then repeat.
    Bake, uncovered 25-30 minutes until bubbly and hot.
    Sprinkle with parsley.
    Serves 8.
