Vegetable Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. chopped onion
    2 medium carrots, sliced
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 tsp. garlic powder (more if you like)
    6 c. water
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes (undrained)
    1 Tbsp. basil
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 (16 oz.) can black beans
    1/2 c. quick cooking barley
Preparation
    Combine all but beans and barley into large pot.
    Bring to a boil.
    Lower heat, then simmer for 1 hour or until carrots are almost tender.
    Add barley and cook until barley is done.
    Add beans just before serving.
