Margaret'S Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cucumbers
    4 tsp. alum
    8 tsp. salt
    vinegar
    10 c. sugar
    2 tsp. pickling spices
Preparation
    Cover cucumbers, alum and salt with vinegar and let stand 2 months.
    After 2 months drain all vinegar off cucumbers.
    Cover with 10 cups of sugar and 2 teaspoons pickling spices in cloth. Let stand 2 weeks.
    Ready to eat.
    (Keep adding sugar until 10 cups are used.)
