Old-Time Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. oil
    2 lb. beef cubes, cooked very slowly
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 garlic clove
    4 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    pepper, paprika, bay leaf, allspice or cloves
    carrots
    1 small white onion
    raw diced potatoes
Preparation
    Heat oil.
    Brown beef cubes in oil.
    Add remaining ingredients and simmer very slowly for several hours.
    Thicken with a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 flour.
