Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small head lettuce
    1 c. chopped sweet onion
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    1 c. diced unpeeled apple
    1 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. crisp bacon, crumbled
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Use other combinations that you like.
    The apple and onion are super together!
    Serves a big crowd.
    Break lettuce into 13 x 9-inch pan or dish.
    Sprinkle with desired amount of onion and pepper.
    Dice apple into salt water, then drain.
    Layer onions and pepper and apple over lettuce.
    Spread mayonnaise over layers with a spatula.
    Sprinkle mayonnaise with 2 tablespoons sugar (use no salt).
    Top with crisp bacon pieces and shredded cheese.
    Cover and chill 4 to 6 hours or overnight.
    Keeps well for a day or two.
