Rich Walnut Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. walnuts
    1 c. currants
    2 c. coarsely chopped mixed candied fruits and peels
    1 1/2 c. snipped prunes
    1 1/2 c. seedless raisins, chopped
    1 c. candied cherries, halved
    1/2 c. bourbon or orange juice
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    6 eggs
    1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    3/4 tsp. salt
    2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1/2 c. Crisco
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Sift the first 3 ingredients; set aside.
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs, vanilla and food coloring.
    Add sifted dry ingredients with buttermilk; mix and fold in last.
    Do not beat into batter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes in 2 (9-inch) greased and floured pans or in Bundt pan.
    Frost with white or red confectioners icing or drizzle glaze for that holiday touch.
