Ham And Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. dry navy beans
    1 meaty ham bone
    3 qt. water
    1 c. celery, chopped
    1 1/2 c. carrots, chopped
    1 1/4 c. potatoes, chopped
    3/4 c. onion, chopped
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste
    1/8 tsp. red pepper
Preparation
    Rinse beans.
    Place in a large pot with ham bone and water. Bring to boiling.
    Reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer until beans are tender, about 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
    Remove bone and meat.
    When cooled, cut meat from bone and return to pot.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Simmer for 30 minutes.
    Stir.
