Cherry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 sticks butter or margarine
    4 eggs, beaten
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. almond extract
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. flour
    1 large can cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar together.
    Add beaten eggs, almond extract and vanilla.
    Beat in flour.
    Spread 3/4 of batter in a 9 x 12-inch greased, unfloured pan.
    Next, spread cherries on top of batter.
    Drop remaining 1/4 of batter on top of cherries by the teaspoonful.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes (until brown on top).
