Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs, separated
    3 c. milk
    4 1/2 c. black walnuts, chopped
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla.
    Add beaten egg yolks. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk.
    Add nuts and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Pour into greased tube pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
