Portuguese Tuna Custard Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shredded Swiss cheese
1/4 tsp. hot pepper sauce (Tabasco)
2 (6 1/2 or 7 oz.) cans tuna in vegetable oil, drained
4 eggs
2 Tbsp. chopped chives
1 1/2 c. light cream or half and half
Preparation

Bake pastry shell in preheated 425\u00b0 oven about 5 minutes, until set but not brown.
Beat together the eggs, cream, salt and hot pepper sauce.
Stir in tuna, Swiss cheese and chives.
Turn into partially baked pie shell.
Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 40 minutes or until tip of knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Remove from oven; let stand 10 minutes before cutting into wedges.
Serve with tomato sauce, if desired.
