Surprise Meringues - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 egg whites
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. (6oz.) mini semi-sweet choc. chips
1/4 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation

In a mixing bowl beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
Gradually add sugar, salt and vanilla.
Beat until stiff peaks form and sugar is dissolved (about 5-8 minutes).
Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes or until lightly brown.
Cool on baking sheets.
Store in airtight container.
Makes 4 dozen.
