Picante Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    16 c. fresh tomatoes
    4 c. chopped onions
    2 c. chopped bell peppers
    2 c. chopped hot peppers
    1 1/2 c. white vinegar
    3 tsp. garlic powder
    3/4 tsp. oregano
    2 tsp. ground cumin
    1 tsp. alum
    5 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients in large kettle.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce to simmer and cook 1 1/2 hours, uncovered.
    Stir frequently to keep from sticking.
    Pour hot sauce immediately into jars according to correct canning procedures.
    Makes 8 to 10 pints.
